- Science (90 minutes): Focuses on interpreting experiments, graphs, and scientific reasoning—not memorizing facts. Includes ~34–40 questions across life, physical, and Earth/space sciences.
- Social Studies (70 minutes): Assesses U.S. history, civics, economics, and geography through data interpretation and critical thinking. Features ~34–40 questions, mostly based on texts and visuals.
How the Subjects Are Structured
The subjects on the test in a computer-based format, with a mix of question types: multiple choice, drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank, hot spot, short answer (in Science and Social Studies), and extended response (in Language Arts).
You do not need to take all four subjects at once. You can schedule them separately, on different days, in any order—a flexibility that helps reduce stress and improve focus.
Each subject is scored independently on a scale of 100 to 200, with 145 as the passing threshold per subject. There is no combined average.
